Modify a POS
Hexia.local
The Modify a POS screen lets you manage every detail for a service location. Select the pencil icon next to each section to edit it.
- General information: modify or add phone numbers.
- Social media sites: links to Website, Google, Facebook, Yelp, Instagram, and more.
- Address: select the box showing the address to edit it.
- Additional information: default language, the public name in French and English, the platform branch code, and contact email.
- Service location description: a short description of what you offer and what makes your business unique.
- Opening hours: the hours you are open to the public; this is also where you mark a location as closed.
- Special hours: exceptions for holidays or events without changing your regular schedule twice.
- Add more hours: hours for different services (mainly for restaurants; not on all directories).
Manage subscribed directories
See the platforms your business is connected to and the categories and attributes for each. On the Google row, select Edit. Categories, attributes, services, and other Google information are grouped in the panel that opens. For other directories, select Edit on the corresponding row.
Manage the media library
Add or edit images by platform, organize visuals by type (logo, interior, exterior, menu), and drag and drop to arrange them within a category.
Manage photos on your Google profile
You can remove photos that were published by the profile owner. A photo added by a user (a customer) can only be removed by that user. If a user photo is not related to your business, it can be flagged so Google can be asked to remove it.
Google address requirements
Google requires a real, physical address where you serve customers, so a P.O. Box is not accepted for a Business Profile.
Closed locations in Google results
A closed location is marked as permanently or temporarily closed rather than deleted, so it can still appear with a “closed” label. Updates to Google are not instant and can take some time to appear.
Closed locations on Apple Maps
Apple Maps handles closures differently from Google and sometimes shows a business as closed when it is not. A permanently-closed status is managed separately for Apple Maps and should be reviewed on its own rather than assumed to match Google.
Google-generated wait times
Wait times and popular times on Google are generated automatically by Google from real activity. They are not values you enter or edit manually.
Multiple businesses at the same address
Multiple businesses can use the same address, but Google needs to verify the situation. Google usually requires additional proof, such as a video or photos, before both listings are validated.
Food category and menu icon
The food/menu icon appears for businesses in a food-related category. Make sure your primary category is correct and that a menu link is added so the icon and menu options display properly.
Update special hours in bulk
- Under Points of Service, select Bulk update.
- Select the relevant POS or groups. Check Selected points of service.
- Under Special Opening Hours, choose Add to existing to add exceptions or Replace with to replace the field values.
- Add the applicable dates and hours, indicating whether the location is open or closed and adding separate intervals as needed.
- Review every selected POS and schedule, then select Save.
If schedules differ between locations, handle each group separately. Special hours are exceptions to regular opening hours.
For overnight opening hours, see Hours past midnight.
